After 3.0

Hello,

Based on https://arcanefortune.com/index.php#0_3_0

I might also work on creating some historical scenarios or at least an earth-like world map for the next release.

That’s just me, but i almost never play historical stuff, and i very much prefer non-realistic settings.

Like, i love the idea of wargames, but one of the only one i actually play is ShadowEmpire by Vic, sci-fi post-apo, and not WWII or Napoleon etc.

About Earth-like, if you mean with our shape and continents etc, i don’t care neither, but if you mean with "believable shape and scientifically acceptable continents and oceans" yes yes.

Again, that’s only me and myself.

Re: After 3.0

I see. Thanks for the perspective.

I guess we differ a little on that. When I played Civ 4 (years ago now), I most enjoyed this mod called "Rhye's and Fall of Civilization" which attempted to partially script historical events. I always thought it was fun to play as Russia, or China and attempt a world-domination campaign -- facing a lot of the difficulty these empires had at various points -- like lagging behind other western European empires in technology and sometimes wealth.

Maybe I'll instead focus the next release more on the city-building side. Wealth levels, education levels, events/festivals, land elevation & shaping and maybe some better (graphical) description of them. Although I know you're not a huge fan of the last item listed -- I just think it'll make visualizing this a bit easier.

Anyway, I'm always happy to consider and do other ideas -- if not now then at some point -- particularly if it vaguely fits in the theme of increasing the city building side of things for this next release.

Re: After 3.0

Oh, don’t get me wrong, i do like nice visuals, i just think they always come after gameplay.

Arcane Fortune lacks gameplay (as it should, being in early alpha), so i’d prefer "more do to", and "doing pretty" coming later.

Re: After 3.0

Yeah, that makes sense. Partly I'm concerned the text-based only interface might be scaring people off, but maybe this is unfounded.

Anyway, I'm reading an article on Shadow Empires. I feel like the various dilemmas and choices it has you make probably add a lot of flavor. I can see how I could do something similar based on the prevailing doctrines of one's empire or the personalities of the noble houses. Along with dispositions of residents like education & wealth levels.
