Thanks for the bug report.
I believe it's because the game is not updating the screen as frequently as it should in the new game option screens.
If you force it to redraw the screen by doing something like holding the control key and scrolling your mouse wheel up or down, it seems to update properly with the correct selection.
This should be an easy fix, but let me wait a little bit to see if there's anything else I want to also change when I push the next update.

Testing the v2.0, the menu are weird in some way.
It’s visible in New Game / Exit, but more obvious with the next step, World Size.
Press down arrow a few times, then up, the cursor still goes down once before going up (same with up first then down).
I press at really "normal" speed just like when i type this message.
Even if i press slower, same.
